In the previous chapters, we learnt what the PMI’s Risk Management Professional (RMP) Certification is and the Eligibility Requirements for the same. Now, let us look at the Overview of this PMI RMP Examination.
• There will be a total of 170 multiple choice questions in the exam
o 150 of these will be considered for the Exam Score• The Exam duration is 3 hours and 30 minutes
o 20 of these will be Pre-Test and will not be considered for the Score
o We cannot identify which Q falls into which category
• The Exam is Computer Based (Almost Always)
• A Paper Based Exam can be taken up only if
o There is no computer based exam center within 180 miles from your residence or• In case you fail in your first attempt at passing the exam, you can retake the exam twice within the 1st year of Application
o If your Company administers the test to atleast 10 people in a controlled/supervised environment
• If you fail all the 3 attempts, you need to wait one year before you can re-apply for the exam

The PMI RMP Exam covers the 4 main areas of Project Risk Management. The Questions in the exam will be in the following % in the exam:
1. Risk Analysis – 30%This works out to a total of 100% doesn't it?
2. Risk Communication – 27%
3. Risk Response Planning – 26%
4. Risk Governance – 17%
